 100,000 total page views.

If page views were money I'd still be poor.

Just a quick note.

I guess that is an accomplishment of some kind.

This happened in the last days of July. Of course, this is the total for approximately twelve years of posting activity. The number of views has increased substantially over the last couple of years. Which I interpret as more people finding and re-visiting my site.

I suppose that this isn't a lot of page views compared to other much more popular sites, but it's a significant number to me. I remember when I was excited to get 350 page views in a month. Currently average page views per month are between 600-1,000. As we all remember, Mark Twain wrote that comparison is the death of happiness. So I am keeping that in mind.

I don't know how this really reflects the demographics of my viewership. I only have four subscribers to my site! I've used the number of page views as the metric of the site's popularity. I would guess that some of the page views are from AI bots sampling my writing to incorporate it into their operating system,... or not. Who knows? I certainly don't. As long as my site remains free of viruses and malware I'm not too concerned. I'll just keep on writing and posting.

Maintaining this site as a hobby keeps it stress-free and enjoyable. I'm easily able to keep up with my once-a-week posting deadline. My stable of hobby machines and current experiences with them provides a good stream of ready content. So it's still fun.

I still find it kind of amazing that I can produce this blog, and post it, for free. I use my old Chromebook, digital and phone cameras to capture images, and my imagination to write the posts and to polish the presentation the best that I can. My Wife makes craft items like quilts, jewelry, and other artistic objects. I produce this blog and every post is something that I take pride in, and get a lot of satisfaction from creating.

Even if I hadn't started this blog I would still be messing around with old cars and motorcycles. I did that for all of my life before I started writing about it, and I'll still be at it in some form, even after I retire my keyboard.

The important thing is that at least I'm doing something. I'll never write like Hemingway, or even Peter Egan. I'll never have a bunch of interesting and exotic machines like Jay Leno, but that really doesn't matter. It's true that I have a limited range of interests, but if you can squeeze the opportunity to find something that you enjoy out of life, you should do it. It doesn't matter on what level you do it. What really matters is that you do it.

Thanks to everyone that takes the time to visit my blog. I really appreciate it.
